Ridgeview Retreat is on a private lot overlooking the lake. On the east, there is a fence between our cottage and our very nice neighbours at Red Fox Hill.
On the west side of the cottage, there is a perennial flower bed filled with lilies and other flowers that bloom throughout the summer. The periwinkle spreads throughout the woods over to Jake’s Place, which is not occupied.
Facing south-east at the widest part of Shadow Lake, the views are fantastic. The fire pit is on the edge of the hill, overlooking the lake. Local wood for the fire pit is provided, free of charge.

The bedrooms each have ceiling fans and 2 windows to provide a cross-breeze. The loft bedroom has a window and a floor fan. The loft bedroom is open to the living room but is still very private since it is over the other bedrooms and set back from the living room.
Bathroom
The cottage has potable (drinkable) water so you don’t have to worry about using lake water to brush your teeth. Towels, soap, tissues, and toilet paper supplied.

Driveway and stairs
The cottage has a steep driveway with space for two small cars at the top. We are able to park our full-sized crew cab long box truck and Camry at the top. There’s room for a small car at the bottom of the slope and there are stairs up to the cottage.
Ridgeview Retreat is on a ridge between the Gull River and Shadow Lake. There are 60 stairs to the beach, all built according to building code standards, unlike many stairs in cottage country. The stairs are sturdy, even in height, and there is a handrail. There are landings and a short walk (about 15 steps) between the upper flight of 20 and the lower flights of 15 and 25. I usually stop to catch my breath at the top of the lower flight but I pretend to be looking at the wildflowers on the hill.
